Debbie Janaway is a Nurse Consultant for Falls and Osteoporosis and Patient Safety. She qualified as a registered nurse from the Nightingale School of Nursing at St Thomas's Hospital in 1990 and has worked in East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust for 29 years. She spent many years in Trauma and Orthopaedic and Surgical nursing. Following a collaborative project to improve rehabilitation following hip fracture Debbie was seconded into the East Kent Falls and Osteoporosis Service in 2004. The main aspects of her role are the Nurse Led Fracture Liaison Service, management of complex Osteoporosis and prevention of inpatient falls and injuries. She has a Master of Science degree in Inter professional Health and Social Care and is an Independent and Supplementary Prescriber. Debbie has published papers on the East Kent Falls and Osteoporosis Service and has presented nationally and internationally on falls, Osteoporosis and patient safety. Debbie works as a nurse expert for investigation of in- patient falls. She is a member of the Clinical and Scientific Committee at the Royal Osteoporosis Society and an advisory group member representing the Royal College of Nursing for the Fracture Liaison Service Database.
