David Armstrong
David graduated from Queens University Belfast in 1995 and undertook postgraduate rheumatology training in Belfast and Manchester, including a MD for his thesis on neutrophil function in SLE. Following his first consultant post in Durham, he returned to Northern Ireland and set up a new fracture liaison service and osteoporosis clinic at Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry. He has a Visiting Chair at the Nutrition Innovation Centre for Food and Health (NICHE) at Ulster University, where he leads research on nutritional aspects of bone and muscle health, especially vitamin D, and also sits on the Royal Osteoporosis Society Clinical Committee and the Expert Advisory Group of NOGG.
